A “common sense” or stereotype is that “men who use pornography are more likely to assess women negatively than men who do not.” According to a study done at Kinsey Institute by Davis (2006) and another study done by Sun (2014), it is said that men are more violent or negative towards women when often exposed to pornography than the men who do not participate with pornography. Therefore, social science suggest that this stereotype is true. She points out that this is caused from sexual arousal; that sexual arousal and sexual assault is correlated and also that sexual arousal increases while the likelihood of sexual aggression increases as well (Davis, 2006). The study was to have men exposed to sexual violence, or a “stimulus story” that involved rape while intoxicated, then recorded questionnaire responses. I never thought that pornography can lead to aggression so it really surprised me that men would act more aggressive when there is a high amount of exposure in pornography. I am very concerned that pornography has taken a role of being the normal sexual script because that means there will be more aggression towards women later down the road, from the exposure the teenage boys are getting from the internet. When reading these articles, I found it interesting that men rely on pornography and when they have a chance to be intimate with a partner it is aggressive or not to the partner’s expectation. I feel there is a lot of miscommunication because of how aggressive a man could. These articles aren’t saying that if a person, mostly men, watch porn then they are hurting your intimate partner by developing an aggressive behavior. They are saying that the more exposed a person is or dependent on pornography, the more likely they could develop sexual aggression towards there partner. It’s surprising that this might be the norm and it will be damaging too many females that don’t want to give consent to this act of aggression. My viewpoint now on this topic is to be
