Despite the apparent inconsistencies with his behavior, Stella Kowalski is depicted as constantly desiring Stanley Kowalski. In spite of how he treats her and DuBois, Stella Kowalski seems almost consumed by her desire for him. Stella Kowalski is an example of someone who has found themselves desiring something that is more likely to provide them with pain than pleasure. However, she seems to focus more on the pleasure Stanley Kowalski gives her rather than acknowledging the consequences of staying with him.
