When I read the first chapter, I thought Liesel would not adapt to her life with her foster parent (Hans Hubermann and Rosa Hubermann). But when I read the following chapters, Liesel begin to get closer to them. After she arrived to Hans Hubermann’s house, Liesel changed a lot. From reading the novel, we know that Liesel did not know how to read or write. Hans Hubermann did not study well, but he learns some of the things. Hans Hubermann is a nice teacher to Liesel. From him, Liesel learned how to read and write. The book she stolen from her brother’s burial “The Grave Diggers” (on page 23) is the first book she learned. Every day she slowly stared to read and improved her skills. After few days went by, she started to get interested on reading
