The Social Worker as Advocate Advocacy is defined as a key concept in social work practice. This is executing influenced on behalf of organizations and groups within legal power and political structure. “Advocacy may also involve individual, groups, or their representatives, pressing their case which may influence others about the situations that either affects them directly or indirectly. Social worker advocacy suites my personality and what I intend to achieve as a social worker, been an advocate means becoming a voice for others when they need it the most. This is empowering to clients. The teaching role, as it plays out is social work, involves teaching them how to adapt to conditions that negatively affect them or providing understandable information, advice, and describing possible alternatives and their consequences to help clients make informed decisions about issues in their lives. I know research, practice evaluation, and research production is critical to the social work profession, however I do not see myself working in that area. This area requires sophisticated data collection and analysis techniques which is not among my field of interest. Although I am not a practicing social worker and merely a student, I do know where my passion is and what my strengths are. I’ve always been able to relate to others, “a people person” others may say therefore I know my key strengths includes good communication skills which will aid me with communication between me and the client, facilitating the clients need, educating the client on resolving
