The mystery created in the movie Gone Girl is introduced with the intention of the opening scene. That describes the relationship of Amy and Nick Dunne who are a married couple. The scene describes information to the viewers about the two with the opinion and perception of the other characters and extras. The setting of gone girl takes place in North Carthage in 2014. The opening scene has several different shots and locations as it changes from the bar to flashbacks that took place in New York to transition back to Dunne's house. The dull colored buildings as well as the empty streets and quiet bar are to create suspension. As the opening scene Nick doesn’t seem to get along with his wife and stated he wanted to leave her even though it was their anniversary. So him coming home to find that she's gone and the furniture to be flipped causes for viewers to question what is going on. The viewers are provided with the information that Nick and Amy had a good relationship once as shown in the flashbacks however the viewers are provide with the conflicts and how they do not have the best relationship now. The viewers are able to follow narration of the film as it does have a logical sequence although the timeline is whiched from the past to the current time. The emotional effects change as there is anxiety and sympathy with the questioning of what happened to Amy as she was once named “Amazing Amy”. Everyone portraits Nick as the bad guy as yet they don’t know what happened to amy. The viewers are provided with the information that Amy and Nick onced had a good relationship as the flashbacks show however there has been a shift and they want to divorce. The placing of the scene has to do with the movie as well as once they lived a happy life in New York and the changed over to New
