The author uses visual imagery to point out how preparation leads to success. You can tell because it states in the paper that he said, “I fired into my man-the sort of collision that makes mothers shudder and dads grin.” These words paint a picture of how hard the author hits his opponent, the ability to create such a hit comes only from hard work and constant preparation. Another thing the author said that uses imagery was when he said, “Sprinting after the ball, I caught up with my brothers in the end zone and jubilantly joined them in the celebration.” This evidence proves that with all the practice that he did was worth it. The quote paints a picture of a boy successfully completing a play, and celebrating with his teammates, his brothers.
