Over the last few years, the price of tuition has increased faster than inflation. Parents and high school children need to start looking for scholarships and grants early. It is designed for Air Force dependents. Your parents must be Air Force Reserve, retired, Air National Guard, active duty or veterans. The scholarship amounts range from $500 to $3,000. AMVETS Scholarship This scholarship is offered to high school seniors who are planning on going to college. You must be pursuing a degree, license or certificate. In addition, you have to be enrolled in a technical school, undergraduate college or trade program. If your application is successful, you can get one of the six scholarships. The $4,000 scholarship is awarded in amounts of $1,000 a year for the next four years. To be considered, you must be a child or a grandchild of an American veteran. You must have a high school GPA of at least 3.0. Three of the six scholarships are awarded specifically to children of military veterans. Scholarships for Military Children This is a program that is offered by the Fisher House Foundation and the various commissaries. Every commissary gives a scholarship of $1,500.
