• Easy to learn for new people who are entered into testing. • Manual QA Testing is more reliable than automation (in many cases automation will not cover all cases) Disadvantage of Manual Testing • GUI objects size difference and color combination etc is not easy to find out in manual testing. • Load testing and performance testing is not possible in manual testing. • Running test manually is very time consuming job. • Regression Test cases are time consuming if it is manual testing. Software Testing Types: Black box testing – Internal system design is not considered in this type of testing. Tests are based on requirements and functionality. White box testing – This testing is based on knowledge of the internal logic of an application’s code. Also known as Glass box Testing. Internal software and code working should be known for this type of testing. Tests are based on coverage of code statements, branches, paths, conditions. Unit testing – Testing of individual software components or modules. Typically done by the programmer and not by testers, as it requires detailed knowledge of the internal program design and code. Questions asked are usually about the respondents’ beliefs, opinions, characteristics and behaviours. In other words, one can collect information on lots of variables in a single interview. This can be done by asking lots of respondents similar questions and in the process determine many variables, test multiple suggestions, and at the same time establish past and present behaviours. A Face-to-face Interview was chosen as data collection instrument. Interviews are particularly useful for reaching the story behind a participant’s experiences. The interviewer can follow in-depth information about the topic. Interviews may be useful as follow-up to certain respondents to questionnaires e.g., to further investigate their responses (McNamara, 1999). Interview was conducted with the of software testers, test analysts, developers, projects managers, business analysts and business managers. For this purpose an interview schedule was compiled to ensure that the interviews were conducted in a uniform way and that all the data required was collected.
