In recent years, it has become apparent that many Americans do not acquire enough exercise. Yet exercise is a great way to reduce the risk of heart disease, maintain an appropriate weight, and improve general health. More than 1/3 of Americans are overweight, that is about thirty five point seven. In America, we have everything we need to maintain a healthy weight. So why are so many of us in the U.S. overweight or obese? Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. The CDC says that, “About 61,000 people die from heart disease every year. And that is one in every 4 deaths.” Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the most common type of heart disease, killing over 370,000 people annually. Every year about 735,000 Americans…show more content…
One example that is in the category of general health is life expectancy. A person is given life expectancy two times in their lifetime. When they are born is the first time and the second time is when a person reaches the age of sixty five. Of course, healthier people have a longer life expectancy. So being in shape and improving a person’s general health, and keeping an appropriate weight range are weighed to lower a person’s risk of heart disease and spring them into a longer life expectancy. Exercise is a great way to keep up a person’s general health. Fitting exercise into a busy schedule isn’t always the easiest thing, but takes stock of some of these tips to help them get on track to fitness. Stretch first, help people avoid injuries by stretching each time they exercise. Simple stretches before and after they work out or engage in physical activity can help keep people active and pain free. Ride your bike. Instead of taking the bus or driving to class, try biking instead. It will give a person a few minutes of exercise between their courses. Play a sport. One way to get people motivated to exercise is to make it a game by playing a sport. Join an intramural team or play recreational sports through your school to get active and have fun at the same time. Use safety equipment. No matter what sport people are playing, make sure to always use the proper safety equipment. It will keep people from getting hurt which will allow them to stay active more often. Head to the gym. Most schools provide students with gym facilities they can take advantage of for free. Head to the gym between classes or when they get up in the morning to squeeze in a workout. Take advantage of fitness courses. Along with gym facilities most students will have access to fitness classes they can take. Since people already are paying for these through their tuition they may as well take advantage and get a
