I stumbled through the woods tripping on vines and tree roots. As I ran I could feel the thing behind me, hunting me. Sweat trickled down my face blurring my vision and burning my eyes. It seemed like the trees were trying to grab me with their long thin branches. I saw a rickety building ahead. I bolted over to the building hoping that this pathetic barn might save my life. I tried to open the door but it was padlocked, but, fortunately for me, the wood was all rotted. I used my last ounce of strength broke the wood around the lock, letting me inside. I slammed that door closed and was met by utter darkness. Out of instinct I recoiled from the foul oder coming from farther in the barn. I looked forward into the darkness and once again was met with the sickening smell. I could only imagine the creature that died in here. Then I heard a growl coming from deeper in this nightmare of a barn. Or the creature that lives in here I thought. Nope. I decided to go back outside and see if I could fight the thing hunting me. My hands grasped the cold clammy rotting wood and pushed. But it didn't budge. What's going on? I thought. Then I heard a sound that made my heart leap into my throat. It was a deep sound. I can still hear it today and it echoes in my ears at night. It was the thing, creature, whatever you want to call it, laughing at me. I pushed my body against the rotted door using all of my weight, every last ounce of strength I could muster to try and open the door. No luck, the creature had somehow trapped me in the barn. What could this slime possibly be? I wondered. It smelled very sweet, but not a fun desert sweet. This smelled like a sour sweet smell like spoiled milk. I wiped my hands on my jeans leaving a sticky smelly trail. I needed to get out of there! I just ran, I didn't care anymore, I just ran hoping to make it to the other side. As I got further away from the entrance it actually started to become lighter! I could see the sparkle of the dust in the air from a little bit of light escaping into the darkness.
