“Silence. The cold rain falling. And the smell of blue electricity blowing under the locked door.” Captain Beutty had just released me from the fire station to go spy on Guy Montag. My job was to go see if he had any books hidden in his house. I had to admit it had been a while since Captain Beutty had put me out to spy or catch a traitor. Right when I stepped outside from the fire station, the cold hit me so fast it felt like we were in the artic, but it was 3 times colder. I started my way to Guy Montag’s house, but then I noticed I was walking stiffly. Afterwards I perceived it had been a while since Captain Beutty had put oil in me. Along the way pieces of me started to fall apart like a car with a bad engine. I had never…show more content…
When I got there, I heard nothing. It was completely silent. Usually if I catch the human reading, I would kill on the spot and tell Captain Beutty. This time the victim was inside his room. I quietly swept across the hall to get a better smell of what’s going on. I really wanted to knock down the door and kill Montag, but I knew that wasn’t going to work. Now, I was an inch away from the door. Everything felt so silent in there…too quiet, but I could smell them. Even worse I could even smell the books. There’s nothing I hated more than people that read books. I vowed to myself that I would murder anyone that reads books. I don’t care what the reason is. I almost didn’t notice his firemen helmet next to the door; does he really deserve to be a salamander? I scanned, then scanned, then scanned…books, books everywhere I couldn’t believe it. There were at least a dozen books in there. He didn’t deserve a fireplace either. He was a trader. He didn’t belong in this society. If could get my way I would bust the door open and kill any human being behind that door. However Captain had taught me better. I was feeling enraged. I couldn’t believe it. I think I heard them whispering behind the door. I leaned forward, and I could hear Mildred talking “Someone—the door—why doesn’t the door-voice tell us---” “I shut it off.” Mildred laughed, “It’s only a dog, that’s what, you want me to shoo him a away?” Montag yelled, “Stay where you are!” … I…show more content…
All my oil was in me, I’ve never felt this way since I was brand new since Captain Beutty had created me. I started to realize that then Captain was studying me, I started to realize that then I’ve heard rumors that Captain Beutty had never bought a single hound back to life unless he wanted to, I started to realize that then the only reason Captain Beutty had bought me back to life or repaired me was only because he wanted to know the truth about Guy Montag, he only saved me for the truth. I felt raged, but that’s normal for a hound. “Hound did you find any evidence or get any clues on Guy Montag, is he reading books?” I stuttered, did he really deserve to really know the truth, did he really deserve to know what happened at the scene, I had to tell the truth all hounds are bound to never lie and if I lied I would be covering up Montag which I wanted no part of, I would never help that traitor for what he has done to this fire station, he doesn’t deserve to represent a firefighter. There was a great pause. “Yes Captain Beutty, I spotted Guy Montag with about a dozen books him and his wife were booking reading in side their home I was next to the door scanning and smelling to approve for sure they were reading, they were reading.” “Can you please give me the exact location to Guy Montags house please hound?” Silence. I stuttered once again then I started to wonder.
