Tell of a conflict that you recently encountered. It could be a conflict at work, in the news, or one involving a personal relationship. Recently, we have a family get together at one of my sister’s house. There were 3 of my sisters, my younger brother and my mother. When we were chatting, we had a conflict about her daughter’s wedding that they were planning to have in India next year. So, my brother was unhappy and told my sister, that he is not happy that she is arranging the wedding in India, because our mom is too old and our concern is whether she would be able to fly that far. If we view conflict as something that shouldn’t happen, something that harms relationships, it becomes negative. But if we see conflict as a fact of life, an opportunity to strengthen relationships, we have a way of resolving conflict by turning it into something creative. Conflict is a normal part of any healthy relationship. After all, we can’t be expected to agree on everything, all the time. Learning how to deal with conflict—rather than avoiding it—is crucial. When conflict is mismanaged, it can cause great harm to a relationship, but when handled in a respectful, positive way, conflict provides an opportunity to strengthen the bond between families. By learning these skills for conflict resolution, we can keep our relationships strong and growing. To resolve our family problem, I wanted to ask "Who", "What", "Why," "Where," "When," and "How" and concentrate on thinking up as many questions as I can like what are you saying? is this the only solution to our problem? what if we did such and such? are there other alternatives to this
