Love is a subject everyone feels different about- there are endless opinions and possibilities to the emotion. It seems that everyone around us is “falling in love.” Is it true, though? Is this “love” actually real? No one honestly knows the answer, but the question can be investigated upon. We’re going to look at one of the top love stories ever created- Romeo and Juliet. Many people say that their love can’t possibly be true, but it seems that the young, seemingly clueless couple could have what we humans call true love because of Romeo’s “love at first sight,” the quick readiness of the choice for the two to get married, and the fact that the couple died to stay with each other. That is very unnatural in a normal teen’s relationship- especially seeing as most teenagers fear having responsibility such as being a suitable spouse. But instead, both Romeo and Juliet embraced this thought. And to be perfectly honest… you’d have to really love someone to marry them so soon- they’re still basically a stranger! Not only did they want to marry so soon, but they also thought of marriage in a different way than most their age. Most teens don’t think of marriage in a serious way- they don’t really understand the promises they’re making when they say “I do.” But, Romeo and Juliet seem to fully comprehend those promises. For example Romeo attempts to swear his love to Juliet: “(Romeo)Lady, by yonder blessed moon I vow, that tips with silver all these fruit-tree tops-(Juliet)O swear not by the moon, th’ inconstant moon, that monthly changes in her circle orb, lest that thy love prove likewise variable.” As seen in this quote, Juliet tells Romeo not to swear his love to her to the moon, because the moon is constantly changing every month, making his love ever-changing for her. This shows Juliet understands that love needs to be stationary to be true. It’s true- if love were to change as much as the moon does, love just wouldn’t exist between two
