Suicide and Self-harm is one of the main leading causes in teen deaths in today's society. The thought of ending his or her life is one of the thoughts developing in teenagers’ minds around the globe. There are many reasons to why a person will put their life at risk, such as stress, depression, loss of a loved one, or being bullied. Constant use of drugs or alcohol is also another leading cause to a person to have suicidal thoughts/actions. Suicide is not the way to go, there are plenty of other options to overcome suicidal thoughts or actions. Teenage suicide is definitely preventable when the right help is present. The most common signs are Psychological disorders, change in behavior, loss of interest, hopelessness, tunnel vision, and unexpected rage. It is very important to understand these signs so you will know what to if someone sufferers from any of them. By being aware of the causes of youth suicide, one has the ability to prevent an occurrence from happening. Many of the factors that contribute to youth suicide are not new, but most people do not connect the effects they can have on the youth. Psychological disorders often tend to include depression and even bipolar disorder. Family members, friends, teammates, neighbors, and sometimes those who don’t even know the teen as well might experience feelings of grief, confusion, guilt, and the sense that if only they had done something differently, the suicide could have been prevented. Learning more about what might lead a teen to suicide may help prevent future tragedies. Even though it's not always preventable, it’s a good idea to be informed and take action to help a troubled teenager. These are the people that are always available, they have the most knowledge of the persons past history and in addition it doesn’t cost anything to talk to them. If family members are sensitive enough about the topic then they could potentially save a life.
