Close to Evil was a documentary that was aired on RTÉ, it documented the life of Tomi Reichental a Jewish man who was a prisoner in Bergen Belsen during WW2. Tomi was only 4 years old when he was sent to Bergen Belsen, he grew up in Slovakia and in November 1994 he was removed by Nazi officers. Tomi spent 6 months in Bergen Belsen, he was released in April 1945, when the camp was liberated by allied troops. During the Documentary Tomi tried to meet up with a Hilde Liviewics, who worked in the camp as a guard in the kitchen. Although Tomi was in contact with Hildes daughter he was unable to make direct contact with Hilde herself as she didn't want anything to do with him. During the Documentary Tomi tried to meet up with a Hilde Liviewics, who worked in the camp as a guard in the kitchen. Although Tomi was in contact with Hildes daughter he was unable to make direct contact with Hilde herself as she didn't want anything to do with him. The documentary included a interview that Hilde carried out that related to her time in Bergen Belsen and what she thought off the foul environment that the prisoners had to deal with everyday. Hilde showed no sign of regret or shame when it came to talking about the harsh conditions, she also was a believer in the final solution which involved the destruction of the Jews. During his search for answers Tomi came in contact with the granddaughter a man named Hans Ludin who was responsible for the termination of the Jews in Bergen Belsen. Tomi went with Ludins granddaughter, and talked about what happened during the war. They went to visit Ludins grave and all the headstone read was H.E.L and the family say that all it waa missing was one more L becauswe Ludin do his family was the Devil and deserved to be in
