Plato's beliefs when considering the allegory and the cave I feel was an allegory of deep philosophical wisdom. I think that the cave analogy is perfect when you put it into context at any point in time it seems to have the same relevant meaning. I see Plato focused on the ethical decisions of what makes one good. I think part of the reasoning behind the allegory of the cave is to challenge one's self and put yourself in the position of those in the cave. Always be unassuming is how I translate challenge the daily ideals that may determine the way you conduct life. Its a matter of seeing passed your six senses causes you take things in a more intellectual sense surpassing here and now. Overall Plato believed in universal goodness help
