The Columbine shooting was one of the worst school shooting to ever happen in the history of the United States. This was the worst school shooting up to this point in history; it was surpassed by a couple of other shootings but mainly the Virginia Tech shooting. This was more of a social impact because it affected the social aspects of the kids’ lives and all the families that were hurt because of the event. Another effect is that the massacre changed the way school security systems and procedures would function from that point on. What many schools did immediately after the shooting is that they installed metal detectors and security cameras. Some of this is still true today because many schools have cameras and one of the best security measures today is that they have a very highly trained and attentive staff that is close with the students. This allows the students to feel free to open up and talk to the teachers or other faculty members if they feel the need to. This relates to more of a social impact because it affected the immediate lives of people who had to go through it every day. Finally another effect of the shooting was that people began to wonder what would compel kids to do such terrible and horrendous acts without much of a motive to doing so. This began years of research specifically involving this case that tried to explain why a teenager would be writing such horrible things in his
