The article "Class, Status, Parties" from Anthropological Theory: An Introductory History by Max Weber suggests that there are three components of stratification: class, status and party. Class refers to people with possession of goods and opportunities. Individuals with the same class circumstance are determined by their financial circumstances through supply of merchandise, living conditions and individual backgrounds. Status refers to people with social status or honor, but it does not have to be linked with class. By having high status, means one has power and with that power one can monopolize material goods or opportunities.
