A civil war between the Tutsi and Hutu was the major factor that caused the genocide brought on because of the competition for land and food caused my overpopulation of Rwanda. The main protagonists in this case were both the Tutsi and the Hutu. They all had motives to kill one another for survival. Families members competed against themselves and others over land and food resources. The Hutu made up most of the population while the Tutsi made up about 15%. The race didn’t always matter when it came to who killed whom. Killing in the same race occurred as well. There were many various caused that attributed to the genocide.
