Promote equality and inclusion in health and social care setting 1.1 Explain what is meant by Diversity, Equality, Inclusion, and Discrimination. Diversity: diversity can be characterized as contrasts in people, it is also about different and variety of diverse people in a society. They can be characterized as age, culture, disability both mental and physical disabilities, gender, ethnicity background, language, race, religion and beliefs as well as sexual orientations. Equality is a state or quality of being equal or treating equally people in respective of their gender, race or ethinicity background as well as treating everyone fairly and allow equal opportunities to individual and allow them to exercise their human right. Inclusion is the act of including everyone to participate and be part of the society or given everyone one sense of belonging in the society by treating them fairly, respecting their feelings and give support to people to participate.…show more content…
This can come in different ways for example from gender, disability etc and it can be open or seen by everyone or in could be hidden. In either form that it takes, discrimination always leads to unequal treatment of people. 1.2 Describe ways in which discrimination may deliberately or inadvertently occur in the work setting. This can occur deliberately by stereotyping by stereotyping is by having ideas of people without getting to know them closely either by nationalities or race. Or either inadvertently through a policy that is restricted to some race for example in a diverse work setting whatever policy must put everyone to consideration by given fair and equal policy suitable for all nationalities represented at the work
