William Rowan Hamilton was the fourth of the nine children that Sarah Hutton and Archibald Hamilton had. He was born in Dublin, Ireland. His father, Archibald, who was a solicitor, mostly toured England while practicing legal business. He had little or no time to teach young Hamilton. Because of this, he was sent to live with his uncle, James Hamilton. James was a graduate from the Trinity College, and ran a school in Talbot's Castle. Young William showed signs of being a very fast learner at a young age. By the age of 5, he had already learned three languages including Greek, Latin, and Hebrew. Before 12, he had learned more about various other languages, such as, Arabic, French, Persian, Sanskrit, Italian, and Syriac. Languages seemed to
