There is no doubt that, life is beautiful and every moment is a celebration of being alive but one should always be ready to face adversity and challenges. A person who has not encountered difficulties in their life can never achieve success. Everyone has to deal with adversity at some point in his or her lives. The adversity that they go through varies from person to person. For first lieutenant jimmy cross, he had to make it through the Vietnam War alive. In Tim O’Brien’s “The things they carried” explores how he copes with death in his own way, and how his understanding of death evolves throughout the novel. His goals is to convey message to everyone around the world who wants to go to war for their nation, to clear his conscience of war and tell the stories of soldiers who were forgotten by society. “Death is an inseparable part of life”. If we were to live life honestly and without fear, we would have also accepted that death is ultimately inevitable. “They were tough” (Paragraph 76) the body is only a garment. How many times you have changed your clothing in this life, yet because of this you would not say that you have changed. Similarly, when you give up this bodily dress at death you do not change. You are just the same, an immortal soul, Sadly, life after death is the greatest mystery of all. And in the end, the only one that matters is what you did for others. Many people die thousand of little death before they finally make it official. “They carried all the emotional baggage of men who might die” (Paragraph 77). Without any doubts experiencing those tiny deaths on a daily basis is not only extremely painful, but those tiny deaths also make us much harder to live our best lives before we reached the grave for good. If that was not bad enough, those tiny deaths could also cause us to reach the grave much sooner than necessary
