Athletes are found in basketball, baseball, football, golf, soccer, hockey, tennis, and swimming. Out of all the athletes, he won athlete of the decade in 2009. Even though Tiger Woods committed adultery and his life was damaged, he is still known as one of the greatest golfers of all time. Tiger Woods has grown up, his whole life playing golf. He has broken many records and made many memories. Along with all those records and memories his life has been filled with distress. Professional golfer Tiger Woods was born in Cypress, California, in 1975. When Tiger Woods was a child, his father began calling him “Tiger” in honor of one of his fellow soldier and friend. His father, Earl, was his mentor. When Tiger was eight years old, he was a great golfer and got to show his unusual talent on Good Morning America. He attended college at Stanford University. Woods turned professional in 1996 and became well known when he won the Masters in 1997 at the age of twenty one. He was the first African American to achieve this goal. They have two kids together. Since he has become a pro golfer, he has won fourteen major tournaments and one hundred and thirty seven professional tournaments. In 2006, Tiger had one of the most tragic days of his life when his dad died of prostate cancer unexpectedly. When his dad died, it affected him so much that he had to take a break from golf and recover from the death of his father. He said “My dad was my best friend and greatest role model. He was an amazing dad, coach, mentor, soldier, husband, and friend.” Tiger had two kids with Elin. Sam Alexis Woods was born in 2007 and Charlie Axel was born in 2009. Also in 2009 Tiger woods won an award that is very challenging to win for any athlete and that was athlete of the decade. 2009 was a very eventful year for Woods.
