The Bible broken down into stages represents itself as a drama. There are various themes represented throughout the Old Testament which consists of the setting, inciting incident, and rising action. The Old Testament portrays God at his finest and with antagonism. When the Bible opens up, we come into contact with Genesis. In the book of Genesis, Adam and Eve portray how greed and disobedience is a human evil. God is seen disappointed by the human wickedness hinting that humans are responsible for the evil (Gen 6:6). God throughout the Old Testament is seen exemplifying humans will receive whatever they deserve. The majority of the Old Testament takes place in the ancient land of Canaan. The Old Testament explains that the Israelites were decedents of Abraham who moved to the land of Canaan following Gods ways. The first book of the Old Testament, Genesis, paints the picture for the Bible. Abraham and his descendants are blessed. “I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.” (Gn 17:7). Adam and Eve eat the fruit. Adam and Eve given a plentiful garden cause Sin to arise when they become intrigued to eat a fruit from the forbidden tree. The serpent representing the devil tempts Eve causing her to lose trust in God’s promise. The greed of knowledge leaves them naked and the fig tree leaves symbolize the shame both face. The punishment of painful child bearing for Eve and hard work for Adam are an example of how sin against God is repaid. The flood and destruction of humanity becomes visible as God curses his people with a flood. Noah, the obedient follower of God, find a way to escape through God’s help.
