Star Wars: A New Hope By: Nicole Wright Tuesday, October 14th, 2014. Throughout the movie Star Wars, there are many examples evident in the plot, characters and setting that connect with the romance archetype. To begin with, Luke Skywalker lives on a farm with his Aunt and Uncle. His Uncle buys C3PO and R2D2 from Jawas. It is after that Luke recieves a distress call from Princess Leia. He is hesitant to go at first but when Lukes home is burned, killing his Aunt and Uncle; He humbly accepets the call as nothing is left for him at home. After Luke and Obi-wan meet Hans (Pilot), they all go to the Death Star to save Princess Leia. They run into many thresholds like Storm Troopers, near death experiences, but they live to see another day. Once they are back they prepare for their final battle. Their plan is to blow up the Death Star, which Luke does. The plot connects to the Romance Archetype as; The hero (Luke) is born in an ordinary world with odd circumstances, He recieves a call for adventure, He is reluctant at first, encouraged, crosses Thresholds, faces resurrection and victory.…show more content…
To start with, We have Luke Skywalker. He connects to Romance archetype as he is physically/emotionally strong, brave, intelligent and he's young. In a way, he's just like Spiderman and Hulk. All three are similar to eachother. Next we have Darth Vador, who is dressed in all black. He represents fear, age, winter and chaos. His mission is to distroy the jedi order and blow up planets. Darth Vader is just like the Joker and the Green Goblin. Lastly, we have Princess Leia. She symbolizes hope, youth, innocence, beauty and so much more. She is the woman of knowledge and temptress. These 3 main characters evidently fall under the romance
