On May the fourth of every year, fanboys and fangirls across the galaxy celebrate Star Wars Day. But, a look into the Star Wars universe shows that the republic government made some intriguing decisions from a political point of view. One of the smaller decisions, yet one of the most influential ones, was a slight shift in their military tactics with the addition of some Clone Troopers. This enactment opened the door to what is known as the Clone Wars, one of the largest conflicts in galactic records, topped only by the rebellion against the Empire. However, podracing can move quickly if one doesn't know the basics of the sport. In the same way, a speech that attempts to prove the existence of a need can move too quickly if one doesn’t know the basics of the terms. I am resolved that there is a need for the United States to research and fund advancements in its military rather than focusing its efforts on the national healthcare system. The concepts that need to be defined are the United States health care system and militaristic advancements. In the United States the current health care system has been implemented as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act by President Barack Obama. This act, which can simply be referred to as federal health reform, attempts to, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures, “expand access to insurance, emphasize prevention and wellness, improve quality and system performance, expand the health workforce, and curb rising healthcare costs.” This is the essence of the American health care system. The other key concept in the proposition at hand is militaristic advancements, which can also be referred to as military technology, national defense, homeland security, or military personnel. Now that the three bases have been established, it can be seen that the resolution at hand is valid. The basics, the experts, and the effects show that there is a need. If something is done now, then our nation can plan to the future rather than constantly resolving the deals of the present. If the present state of affairs is left unchanged, then eventually another country will exploit our lack of military preparation. There is a need for the United States of America to research and fund advancements in its military rather than focusing its efforts on the national healthcare system. My father served in the military and I have a brother and a cousin who are currently serving. I want to make sure that they are best equipped to serve the United States of America. Do you know anybody in the military? Do you not want to make sure they are as prepared as possible when duty calls? The national debt is too large. The need exists. Too much money is being spent on healthcare. The need exists. In the United States, military funding is insufficient. The need exists. Experts in the healthcare and military fields know it.
