At this very moment, I would love to persue a career as a sports medicine physician. An sports medicine physician is someone who tries to prevent and rehabilitate athletes or people who have acquired a musculoskeletal injury during sports such as muscle tears, tendonitis, sprains and head injuries. In recent history, western society has increased the emphasis on physical activity and thereby improved overall physical health. People are now more physically active due to this recent recognition of dangers in physical health. Their job primarily consists of helping athletes perform to their maximal performance capabilities, preventing them from running into any kind of injuries, plan out rehabilitation plans, prescribe diet plans and treat athletes…show more content…
The typical workplace for a sports medicine specialist is in a clinic, outpatient center, college, government agency, private practice, or in sports organizations. Sports organizations include sports unions, professional sports clubs and sports associations. These are all places that provide opportunities for sports physicians to work with athletes and their injuries. One of the reasons why I want to become a sport physician is because I have always played sports and I have always enjoyed helping people who played sports. I started off my college career as an International Business major and after just one semester, I decided to change my major to something more athletic related. I am the kind of person that always has to be active. I love working with people and I just could not see myself working a 9 to 5 job behind a desk for the rest of my life. Sports physicians on the other hand are required to constantly interact with people, which is something that I am good at. I am a foreign exchange student, I do not know if my dream of becoming a sports physician is going to become true because there are not as many job opportunities
