“Always do what you are afraid to do”(Ralph Waldo Emerson). Don’t be afraid to try new things, it will pay off. I found this out the hard way, but in the end, I’m glad I overcame my fear because I was able to experience new things in life, like my first time riding a roller coaster. It was the summer of 2009, my family and I were in California for our vacation. It was a very hot and sunny day; It was so hot, that it felt like my flesh was being burned. We were on our way to Knott’s Berry Farm(theme park). From what I heard Knott’s Berry Farm is one of the best theme parks in California. So I was pretty excited, but at the same time I was scared because I had never ridden a roller coaster before. When we arrived at the theme park, I was speechless at how much people there were. While I was waiting in line I could hear the shouts and screams of the people on the ride, this made me really anxious; this was my first time riding a roller coaster; I didn’t know what to expect. When it was my turn to ride, I realized that I was shaking, it was also getting hard to breath and keep calm, almost like something is smashing at my heart. But I took a deep breathe, and got on the seat. I was strapped down and waited patiently for the ride to start as other people got on. Then without a warning there was a loud sharp beep, and off we went. the cart started off slowly up the incline. When we reached the top, my heart was pounding like drums and I only caught a glimpse of the people down below before the cart started violently plummeting down the ramp the cart went in loops and speeds at speeds of about fifty five miles per hour.
