Significant portions of my childhood summers were spent on the campus of Eastern New Mexico University where my father taught. I always looked forward to a day at the office and would sometimes wear my favorite clip-on tie. I was his assistant professor after all. We went on many walks through the campus and I would even accompany my father to lunch with his colleagues. Being surrounded by so many Ph.D.’s was intimidating and I quickly realized that I would need to increase my breadth of knowledge if I was to engage in discourse with them.
