Adoption It was a cool, sunny, September morning, as I woke up I knew today was the day. Today was the day that the adoption would be official, my step-dad (Joel) would “legally” be my “dad” (but he had been my whole life). So I got ready for school like any other school day. I put on a teal shirt, brushed my teeth and ran to catch the bus. When I got to school I was so excited for what was to come. I told all my friends that the adoption was going to be today. I was so excited for when my parents would come pick me up. When suddenly I heard my name from the announcements. I quickly packed up my class materials and briskly ran to the office. With thrill I hurtled in the back sit of our families Jeep and headed toward Hastings. We had finally arrived in Hastings and entered the courthouse. When we entered the security guards scanned us with metal detectors. We had to wait outside the courtroom for the case ahead of us to finish. The anticipation was killing me. I could hear the clock going tick-tock, tick-tock. As I heard the bang of the gavel the case ahead of us had been adjourned. I started to get really nervous because it was our cases turn to see the judge. So the lawyer, my Mom, my Dad, and I walked into the courtroom. It smelled of ancient books, wooden chairs, and justice. When we sat down. Then we began to discuss our case.…show more content…
To me a father isn't someone who is biologically related to you it means someone who has raised you and cared for you as their own
