For the main character of The Outsiders, Ponyboy Curtis, loyalty is a principle for him. According to Ponyboy, loyalty holds him and his gang together. The gang shows that their loyalty is a key example of pride and honor. They boys stand up for each other because they feel the need to, and will not let anything come between that. They will do anything for each other, even if it means putting their selves in danger to protect one another. Based on the book The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, the main theme of the book is loyalty.
