In William Shakespeare's play A Midsummer’s Night Dream set in Athens, Greece about the interactions between fairies and mortals. The play is often focused on young love and demonstrates how fickle it can be represented by the two couples; Hermia and Lysander and Helena and Demetrius, and the fighting between the fairy King Oberon and fairy Queen Titania and the effects of this fighting on mortals. Love is extremely important and influences all aspects of the play and how the power of love and desire (or infatuation) while they are different they can be easily mistaken for each other. Love and infatuation are confused by the Fairy Queen Titania, because of the love potion, Love-in-Idleness, which was dropped in her eyes by her husband and Fairy King, Oberon, causing her to be infatuated with the first living creature she sees. Lysander and Demetrius so readily accept this new found passion for Helena instead of wondering why these feelings changed so suddenly, even though they remember loving Hermia. These feelings are so powerful that Helena and Hermia, who are excellent friends, immediately assume the other did something to the males, instead of trusting the other’s word. When Helena thinks that Hermia put the two males up to this and is denying it, Helena immediately accused Helena of feigning ignorance, "What will you tear/Impatient answers from my gentle tongue?"(3.2.301-302) When Hermia realizes that Lysander does not love her she immediately turns on Helena, “You canker-blossom/You thief of love! … stolen my love’s heart from him” (3.2.329-331).
