Of Mice and Men is a wonderful novel that shows great detail and purpose. One of the major themes of Of Mice and Men is loneliness. This too is conveyed in the movie take on the novel. They use great mood and script to show the emotion of each scene. They also added scenes to add depth to the characters. The movie greatly shows loneliness at its best. The movie changed many things from the events of the book. Some scenes were removed while other were added. One of the main scenes which greatly affected the plot was the add on of Curley confronting George when he was found with Curley’s wife in the barn. This was never in the book, for Curley and his wife never even are in the same scene in the book. The point of this scene was to display the almost childish nature of his yearning to be respected. He acts like a child asking his mom to stop so he won’t be embarrassed. This shows a new side of Curley, not shown in the book, which elaborates on his character. This does not however affect the overall theme. In fact it adds to the loneliness of the story by showing how Curley keeps his wife away from people at all costs.…show more content…
Until, the movie which added life to the characters and color to their world. They used the colors in a way not just for looks, but also to show the mood of the scene. One example is in the bunkhouse where most of it is cast into darkness. This brings a somber tone to the room and shows that there is not much happiness endured here. Also, the clothing of the workers especially shows details about the characters. For example Lennie wears the same piece of clothing, the entire movie. This shows he doesn’t care about what he wore yesterday or what he will wear tomorrow. He just cares if he has clothes that
