Lady Macbeth: the True Murderer Lady Macbeth is the true murderer in the tragic play Macbeth. Although Macbeth is the one who physically killed King Duncan, Lady Macbeth is the one who is actuallycd responsible for the many innocent lives lost. First, Lady Macbeth received a letter from her husband, Macbeth, explaining that the three witches foretold that he would soon become king. After hearing the prediction Lady Macbeth decides to plan out the murder of King Duncan to speed up the process of them receiving their unfound titles. Macbeth and his wife continued to kill others in order to keep their titles. All of this could have easily been avoided if Lady Macbeth would not have heard about the witches’ predictions or mocked her husband because…show more content…
Lady Macbeth laments her womanhood and in a chilling compact with evil prays, to be “unsexed”, because she believes that her femininity makes her weak. ”Unsex me here”, “is an invocation as evidence of Lady Macbeth’s attempt to seize a masculine power to further Macbeth’s political goals”(Chamberlain) She does not believe her husband will have enough courage to follow through with their plan to kill King Duncan. Lady Macbeth believes that without her persuading her husband he will never do the deed. Lady Macbeth is the force behind Macbeth’s sudden ambition. She tries to manipulate him into feeling guilty and unmanly for not following through with the murder. Lady Macbeth uses insults to push Macbeth to his breaking point, by getting a good grip on her husband’s emotions she manages to convince Macbeth to murder King Duncan. … “From that day on he began to drift away from all that was good.
