Do you know what is diabetes ? How do people get it ? Many people around the world suffer from diabetes. It is the most common chronic disease which occurs in adults and children, but people who have diabetes should learn how to deal with it and try to change their lifestyle to live normally. What is diabetes? Diabetes is a disease that avoids the human body from storing and using glucose ( also known as blood sugar) in the blood, and that causes the amount of sugar in the blood to increase. Therefore, a diabetic person gets the insulin by an injection in the muscles. If sugar got too high in the blood with an absence of insulin, the diabetic person will be affected badly. Diabetes also affects other organs in the body such as heart and blood vessels, kidneys, eyes, nerves, and teeth. People who do not control themselves would have twice chance of suffering from heart and blood vessels problems. Diabetes could harm the vision of the diabetic person, and if it was not treated, it could cause blindness. Kidney also can be influenced, more than half of the cases in the U.S have kidney failure. Regardless, both types have problems with insulin. Type 1 (also called juvenile-onset) exists in 10 out of 100 people who have diabetes. Type 1 is lack of insulin due to a destruction by body immune system to the cells that make insulin. This will prevent the body from absorbing the sugar, and that means no energy production. Type 2 (also known as adul-onset) affects the majority of people. Type 2 discourages the body from using insulin effectively, this is called insulin resistance. If this type got worse, the body will not be able to release more insulin, and this is called insulin
