Task 3 Deming approach The Deming approach proves that the management to be wide-ranging and a reasonable system of management that delivers consistent high performance over the long-term. Quality is the main focus in any organization as it helps to meet the needs of stakeholders and also helps to reduce waste. Deming approach was very popular in the 20th century even after Dr W Edwards Deming’s death in 1993. This approach can be applied to all management regardless of any industry. Constancy of purpose: constancy changes have to be made to survive in the market world as the trend changes variably. Plans have to be made to survive in the business. 2. The new philosophy: Changes in philosophy; changes are to be made according to day to day market and current trend. 3. Cease dependence on mass inspection: mass inspection is not needed if the products are done with good qualities. 4. End lowest tender contracts: The price must not depend just on the appearance on the product. It should be depended on the quality of the products without any variations by being original. It minimizes the cost of the product if it is done properly. 5. Improve every process: update with the trend. Change according to the trend, improve the quality according to the customer needs. Improve the service and process. Have minimal cost. 6. Institute training on the job: Training must be done often with modern methods so that the employees work with their full potential. 7. Eliminate arbitrary numerical targets: Do not let the employees know the numeric goals, instead motivate them in ways where they are fully encouraged to do their work with quality and productivity. 12. Permit pride of workmanship: ensure employees are working properly with rights to their workmanship and not anything else. This depends on the line managers and top management. 13. Encourage education: more educated people in an organization, more ideas will be voiced out as they are also knowledgeable on what’s going on with a product or a company. 14. Top management commitment and action: Top management must be committed to improve quality and productivity, they should create a flow chart and track it to ensure work is being done every day without difficulties and follow up with it. The above 13 points must take action by the top management and they have to push their line managers and employees so that the action takes place. Juran approach The Juran approach is different when compared to Deming as it defines quality in terms of design, conformance, availability, safety, and field use.
