Leadership and teamwork influence the quality of health care services. Leadership is a role that encourage, support, influence and coordinate roles within the team to achieve success. (Bass; Tappen cited in Powell, Kwiatek & Murray, 2005, p. 13). Furthermore, teamwork is a group of individuals that work together to achieve goals (Belbin cited in Powell et al., 2005, p.12). Nevertheless, leadership and teamwork are important in the health care setting, because it maintains patient safety and quality of healthcare delivery. (Powell et al., 2005, p.12). Quality of health care delivery and patient safety can be maintained by increasing patient-partnership, and therefore it illustrates a client centred care approach (Powell et al., 2005, p.12).
