Introduction- The aspects of movement, body control and awareness, object manipulation and control, anticipation and timing and technique all apply to the sport field hockey. Field hockey is a renowned sport that is practiced worldwide in most continents. It is one of the sports in the Olympics and is the national sport of Pakistan. It is a team sport that requires players to score via hitting balls into goals using hockey sticks. Body control and awareness- An intrinsic aspect of movement in field hockey is body control and awareness. Body control is how efficiently a particular task is completed using the body such as hitting the ball in field-hockey. Object manipulation is how well a player manoeuvres the ball while object control is how much of an influence the player has on the ball. In field hockey the object that is to be manipulated and controlled is the ball. It is paramount that a field-hockey player has the prowess to manipulate the ball as well as have full control of the ball in a sudden situation. For instance when the opponent comes running straight at them or behind them. The key factor to manipulation of the ball is having control of the ball. In field hockey without object control object manipulation is worthless. It is better for an unskilled field-hockey player to have control of the ball than knowing numerous tricks. This aspect of movement can be beneficial when trying to pass an opponent, to weave through players and outwit the goalkeeper to score goals. Anticipation is the ability to predict something before it occurs. Timing, on the other hand, is the prowess to strike at the right moment in order to counter that something. For instance when the opposition passes the ball around, the player can purloin the ball by using this aspect of the movement. In this case, the player can anticipate which way the ball is going to go and use timing to steal the ball. This aspect of movement can also be applied when a teammate passes the ball. In this case, the player anticipates where in the field the teammate will pass and use timing to receive the ball just at the right moment. This aspect of movement may sound easy, but it requires a lot of trust within and with teammates, hence the reason why it can only be acquired through practice.
