The artistic crime of the century. “Man on Wire”, the breathtaking documentary film directed by James Marsh, who has access to all of Philippe’s video and photographs of his great attempt. The movie is about the story of Philippe Petit crossed eight times on a tight-wire between the two towers of the World Trade Center on Aug. 7, 1974. Philippe Petit, a French wire-walker, who tells us he was sitting in a dentist's office when he found his dream. He drew a line between the two proposed towers. And everything begin here, where he started to plan and organize such masterpiece. Early in the film, we see footage of the construction works of the towers. The clips shows the towers being built with steel beams, carefully stacked and bind together. Even though the 911 incident had demolished such remarkable skyscrapers, we can still feel the greatness brought by the World Trade Center. The movie carefully staged the scenes with actors and real footage, which created an clear picture on how Philippe’s dream is achieved. The whole timeline from Philippe’s childhood, where he is a fearless person as he likes to climb, he taught himself to walk on a wire, practiced endlessly. Every ideas, methods, details are well planned, all contributed by Philippe and his team. The whole plan and action are complicated like a bank heist. He and his friends scouted the buildings, created false ID cards, talked their way into a freight elevator reaching to the roof.
