Disadvantages Of Paracetamol

Paracetamol, as known as acetaminophen , is widely available nowadays and has found since 1950s. It is widely prescribed and affordable over-the-counter, making it a common drug used in overdose. It is a superior analgesic and an antipyretic. It is normally found as a 500 mg tablet, but it is often combined with other active ingredients in various preparations. It is a commonly used over-the-counter analgesic-antipyretic drug (pain killer) and antipyretic (fever reducer). Paracetamol decreases the production of prostaglandins. Although aspirin also inhibits the production of prostaglandins, but unlike aspirin, paracetamol brings out some little anti-inflammatory effects. Paracetamol possesses good analgesic and antipyretic…show more content…
Fractional distillation is one of the unit operation in chemical engineering. In industries, large quantities of liquids have to be distilled via fractionating columns. Industries involving fractional distillation are the petroleum processing, petrochemical production, natural gas processing, coal tar processing, brewing, liquefied air separation, and hydrocarbon solvents production. Fractional distillation is commonly applied in oil refineries. In such refineries, the crude oil feedstock is a complex, multicomponent mixture that must be separated, and yields of pure chemical compounds are not expected, only groups of compounds within a relatively small range of boiling points, also called fractions. That is the origin of the name fractional distillation. It is not worthwhile separating the components in these fractions any further based on product requirements and economics. In typical chemical plant, distillation accounts for about 40% of the total energy consumption, and therefore, distillation can be said as the most common and energy-intensive separation processes. Large, vertical cylindrical "distillation towers" or "distillation columns" with diameters ranging from about 65 centimeters to 6 meters and heights ranging from about 6 meters to 60 meters is usually used in industrial distillation. Unless disturbed by changes of parameter such as feed, heat, ambient temperature, or condensing, industrial distillation…show more content…
The more reflux or more trays provided, the better the tower's separation of lower boiling materials from higher boiling materials. Bubble-cap "trays" or "plates" are used to provide good contact between the up flowing vapour and the down flowing liquid inside an industrial fractionating column. The efficiency of a plate is less than that of a theoretical 100% efficient equilibrium stage and due to that reason, a fractionating column always needs more actual, physical plates than the number of plates required theoretically. In certain industries, a packing material is used in the column instead of trays as when operating under vacuum when low pressure drops across the column. This packing material can either be random dumped packing (1–3 in or 2.5–7.6 cm wide) such as Raschig rings or structured sheet metal. Liquid could wet the surface of the packing, and the vapour passes across this wetted surface, where mass transfer takes place. Packing performance is affected due to packing with different shape, different surface areas and different void space in between. Fractionator filters dilute acetic acid solution containing unreacted p-aminophenol and paracetamol in the paracetamol
