Constitutionalism and absolutism are governments that have many things in common but also have several distinct differences. They were both used during the thirty years war as ways of uniting states. They were both modernizing in different ways. Constitutionalism requires a set of rules about government and creates a balance of power. Absolutism gives the power to rule to the king by divine right. Some of the main differences between constitutionalism and absolutism are who rules, the source of authority, the government limitations, and how their gentry runs the bureaucracy.
