When you think about Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, you think about two African-American men who helped lead the civil right movement. Martin Luther King Jr. was known to preach about nonviolence and unity in the civil rights movement, while Malcolm X was often accused of preaching violence and racism. It’s very hard to choose between two greats, but I think that Malcolm X had a better understanding of race relations in the US, and his proposals provided a more realistic path to racial equality. Martin Luther King Jr. was too meek and didn’t push hard enough for African-Americans. Malcolm X was more raw and straightforward, he didn’t paint this unrealistic unity of races that Martin Luther King did .The first reason that made me choose Malcolm X is the fact that Malcolm X didn’t blacks and whites to integrate I only agree with this as a result of the time period.…show more content…
and they also wanted to be able to go to amusement parks and other places whites were able to go. African-Americans wanting these privileges didn’t mean they wanted integration because they wanted to be around whites most African –Americans just wanted a better quality of life. Why force two races to be together and cause unnecessary conflict between the two? It’s more realistic to let the two races come together when they wanted to than to force unity between them. The next reason why I chose Malcolm X is encouraged blacks to protect themselves against racist whites who used violence against them and the final reason why I chose Malcolm X is he wanted independence not
