LOYALTY: Possessing true obedience and faithfulness to the United Sates constitution, the organization of the Army, the unit one serves or fellow battle buddies. To display true obedience and faithfulness is to merely devote yourself to something or someone. A dedicated soldier of the Army supports those above themselves and also stand up for the better of the other soldiers around them. When one gets dressed each day in the uniform of a soldier they are showing their loyalty to what they support and the patches that decorate ones uniform shows specific organizations with the Army that they are loyal to. The willingness to do what is right on an everyday basis. This means to refrain from deceiving others, taking for personal gain, and also taking responsibility for one’s own actions when there are consequences that come from a decision. As one integrity progresses within themselves so does the amount of trustworthiness others have in you. Instilling integrity can promise great things to come of one’s personal life as well as career. In the United States Army, without the individuals who populate it possessing integrity all of the other values of the Army don’t even matter. There is no loyalty if a soldier can’t be truthful to those they are supposed to be loyal to, successful duty cannot take place when a soldier decides to take the easy way out when carrying out tasks, to deceive those who work around you means that you do not respect them enough to be honest, there is no selfless service if a soldier cannot whole heartedly devote themselves to help a cause without having no underlying intentions for personal gain, one who doesn’t possess integrity can ultimately not be honorable because nobody can honor a liar, and without integrity personal courage goes down the toilet because one can deceive themselves and believe that a task may be too difficult to achieve.
