"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.", this compelling and diverse statement was made by, President Abraham Lincoln. There are numerous of individuals that come to mind when thinking of someone in American History who has exemplified the character traits, provided to Georgia Public School Students through programming. However,the first person that comes to mind, is President Abraham Lincoln. When analyzing the background and advancement of Abraham Lincoln, not only through his years as president, but also through his period of youth, you will find that President Lincoln has personified, if not all, then majority of the character traits provided. Lincoln was a man that possessed high morale and prominent stature. He particularly possessed an unceasing love for the United States. Abraham Lincoln demonstrated patriotism because he believed in the power and foundation of our country. He bared such a love for the country that even in the midst of a dark time in our history he realized the importance and role America played in the world."We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best, hope of earth. Other means may succeed; this could not fail. The way is plain, peaceful, generous, just -- a way which, if followed, the world will forever applaud, and God must forever bless.", In this quote from President Lincoln's annual message to congress on December 1, 1862 he speaks on how, America will be forever noted and applauded, not only in the world, but also in the eyes of God by granting freedom to the slaves. Lincoln also embodied patriotism because he understood the premise of the founding fathers when they emphasized our countries union and he worked hard and assiduously to re-institute the unity of our country in the midst of the Civil
