Abraham Lincoln said, “Reputation is the shadow. Character is the tree.” Our character isn't what we try to display for others to see, it is who we are even when nobody's watching. Having good character is doing the right thing because it is right to do, no because someone else watching. Character is something that is very important to me. Throughout my life I have tried my hardest to be a good character and it has only benefited my life.
Having good character has helped me in leadership positions. A person with strong character shows drive, energy, determination, self-discipline, willpower, and nerve. All traits that a good leader needs. Having leadership ability has not only helped me in the classroom during group projects. It has helped me when I volunteered the last two summers at the Museum of Latin American Art summer art camp. Someone who bears good character is determined to achieve their many goals. One major benefit of being determined is that you achieve what you set out to do. Some with strong determination doesn't give up at the first sign of an obstacle. A determined person knows that the path to success is someone who knows that success isn't a straight path. They know there are many obstacles and shallowness along they way. However, this does not stop them. Determination can clearly be seen in me through my school work. School has not always come easily to me, but that never scared me away from it. When I don't understand something in one of my classes I go to my teacher to ask for additional help after school. If this doesn't help me, I reach out a peer or try online resources until I have the concept under my belt. This determination has help me received exceptional grades throughout my high school career. I know these skills be applicable in my future
