World Religions: Christianity Vs. Islam

There are two world religions that are very similar in so many ways but are also different. Both of the religions are the top two world religions and teach almost the same beliefs. The world religions in which I choose to compare are Christianity and Islam. Christianity was founded in the year 33 C.E. by a man named Jesus Christ in Palestine. Jesus was said to have been the only born son of God born unto the Virgin Mary. Jesus was sent here by God to free his people of all their sins, he was destined to die upon the cross but before doing so teach his people all about his Father and his undying love and power. Bow down, prostrate yourself, and adore your Lord; and do good; that you may prosper” (Holy Quran 22:77) Each of these sacred text also have different teachings like Christians believe that God slumbers but the Muslims believe he need no rest: “Why are you sleeping, O Lord: Awake! And come to our help, do not give us up forever” (Pslam 44:23) “Allah. There is no god but He, -the living the self-subsisting Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep…” ( Holy Quran 2:255) Both of the text teaches along the same line that God is the one and only God and that you follow his message and teaching and believe in only him. “The religion of Islam has no direct clergy but they do have people called Imams which means those who stand in the front” (Patheos). The Imams lead the prayer and worship service. “Islam also have people called Ulama or people of knowledge who are the scholars and teachers of the Quran” (Patheos). “In Christianity they have a Bishop, which is the authority over the church, Elders, who are the people the advice is seek from, and the Deacons, who are assist in administrative functions”…show more content…
These stories teaches the Christians of God’s plan for them to have salvation and eternal life. The cross is another very important symbol to the Christians, because it represent the death of Jesus. In Islam the stories of Muhammad are consider sacred to the Muslims. The crescent moon and star is a sacred symbol to the Muslim and is a widely known symbol for the religion of Islam. “Certain colors like green, white, black, red, and blue are also symbolic” (Patheos). Muslims’ moral code that drives their daily lives comes from the understanding of the Shariah. The Muslims’ also follow the six articles of Faith and the Quran. Christians follow the teachings of Jesus and rely on the Ten Commandment for their guidance on daily life. Christianity teaches that we as humans were born good but we are also very prone to sin and we need God’s mercy and grace to guide us through our everyday lives. Christians are partners of God in his plan for us. Islam teaches that we all exist to love and serve Allah by loving and serving each other, but because of human nature we forget this and have to be reminded by the revelations of God from his
