Society today says that some people are more important than others. People who have white collared jobs are paid more than people with blue collared jobs. We believe that it should be the other way around. That people that risk there life on a daily basis are more important than people that sit in offices and don’t come in contact with life threatening situations. Heros are more important than people that work in offices to us. The article “The value of human life” it states “Take for example, the $500,000 death benefit the government pays families when a soldier is killed on Iraq or Afghanistan.” I’m glad that the government does this because the men/women that died, died for a good cause. The families of these people deserve the money. In the article “The Human Factor” it states that, “...depends on how much that life is worth.” This statement mean that the government is paying people based on their status in social class and not their contribution to society. The short story “The Most Dangerous Game” states “We will have some capital hunting you and I…” General Zaroff in this story has valued Rainsford more than the sailors because they are close to the same and are more equal to each other. The story also states “I hunt the scum of the Earth, sailors of trap ships.” Zaroff looks down to the sailors and he thinks he is better and worth more.The story “The Human Factor” states that, “Poorer people, for whom an extra dollar is highly valuable, will take less compesition to facing danger.” It means that poor people value an extra dollar because they need it so bad, so they will take less for a dangerous job. While people higher up in society will ask for a higher pay to do the job. People think that if you higher in society think they are worth more and they are because they may work harder than poor
