I have always wanted to be a member of an honors program because I know the benefits and the prestige that comes with being a member. In high school, I had the opportunity to be a member of the honor society, but I fell short; I did not have enough credits or meet the requirements. Now that I am in college, I do not want to miss the last opportunity to be a member of an honors program. I understand the exclusive financial and academic opportunities honors members receive. The honors program gives their members partial scholarships every semester. If I become a member, this will assist me by replacing my unsubsidized loan. My goal financially is to minimize the amount of loan I receive, both subsidized and unsubsidized. I do not want to graduate college with a lot of debt, especially if I have the opportunity to reduce my debt.…show more content…
I want to help my people in Nigeria (or in Africa) develop a strong technological atmosphere. Technology is becoming part of our everyday life, and we (Africans) are lacking in this area. After completing my associate degree at CCBC, I want to transfer to UMBC to complete my bachelor’s degree, because their Engineering program is among the top in the nation. If I become a member of the honors program, my admission to UMBC is guaranteed. I do not want to take chances because UMBC’s transfer admission is very competitive and limited to a small amount of students. In addition, I want to be recognized as a member of the honors program at graduation because it will make me and my family
