Persuading someone into murdering the king is no doubt about it, that it is a big tragedy. Would you be the one to blame; or the person who committed the crime? In Shakespeare the biggest tragedy is the killing of Duncan. Some would say Macbeth is the one to blame, which others would blame it on Lady Macbeth. In this essay I will show you the points on why Lady Macbeth is to be blamed; because she pushed Macbeth to kill Duncan, when she comes into the play she turns Macbeth evil, and she is engrossed in becoming the queen of Scotland. First, Lady Macbeth pushes Macbeth into killing the king. She is aware that her husband is genuinely a gentle person; however she is able to manipulate him into committing evil crimes. Before Macbeth arrives, she already knows that Duncan is not going to leave their home alive. Her craving for power turns Lady Macbeth into an evil person. She fears that Macbeth lacks enough courage and killer instinct to murder Duncan. Next. the relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth is not based on love. Lady Macbeth often accuses her husband of talking but not carrying through his promises. Lady Macbeth is only concerned with the advantages she can have by being married to Macbeth. If Macbeth becomes king by murdering the king, she can become queen. When Macbeth considers not murdering Duncan, Lady Macbeth quickly becomes angry and she accuses her husband, “And to be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man.” (pg. 44) Just mentioning the the thought of not murdering Duncan drives Lady Macbeth furious. With her need of power she turns Macbeth into a murder, “And with him, to leave no rubs nor botches in the work, Fleance, his son, that keeps him company, whose absence is no less material to me than is his father’s, must embrace the fate of the dark hour.”
