Macbeth is tragedy written by English play writer William Shakespeare. Shakespeare tells story of Scottish nobleman who becomes a tyrant king by deceitfully murdering King Duncan. Macbeth is one of the most interesting characters of all the Shakespeare's works. Macbeth is tragic hero and tragic hero in literature is a great or virtuous character in a dramatic tragedy who is destined for downfall, suffering, or defeat (dictionary.com). Some claim that he is an example of an evil man but others say that he is more tragical than evil because he becomes desperate person, is disturbed by his terrible sins, and loses his hope which finally leads to downfall. Othello recalls, “I will not yield, / To kiss the ground before young Malcolm's feet, / And to be baited with the rabble's curse. / Though Birnam Wood be come to Dunsinane, / And thou opposed, being of no woman born, / Yet will try the last. Before my body / I throw my warlike shield” (p.95). At this time of the play Macbeth understands that he is doomed for loss. But in spite of giving up he continues fighting even when he knows it's useless. These kind of acts are usually done by desperate people. All the desperate people are tragical and we should feel sorry for Macbeth, even if we disdain his acts in previous parts of the play.…show more content…
